1979 JMP 2203 TONE

hi
i'm going to mod a bit my 1979 JMP 2203 in order to have a browner tone.
i just cutted the bright cap on pre amp vol. and snipped out the 470 pico cap on low channel's 470K grid res.
i also lowered the 10 K (cathode) to 4,7 K and bypassed it with a 1 micro cap. and added a 22 micro on v2's 820R cathode.
The amp is still brighter especially with the gain maxxed. (great gain but still harsh)
Any suggestion?
thank you

have you tried changing preamp tubes? Sylvania 12ax7's give a browner sound than a lot of modern types...
